Save $$$ and Receive Eligible Tax Credits

Each tax season, Arizona families miss out on millions of dollars in tax refunds because they are unaware of programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a refundable federal income tax credit eligible to low-income working individuals and families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to change this by providing families with the knowledge and guidance to lessen their financial burden. TCC’s Tempe Financial Stability Initiative works in collaboration with Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, the Internal Revenue Service and Gracie’s Ministries to operate a VITA program in our area.  Have your federal tax return prepared, e-filed and direct deposited for FREE. Save hundreds of dollars in paying for a tax preparation service. Our trained and certified volunteers will prepare your taxes and ensure you get the largest refund for which you may qualify.

Did you earn less than $54,000 (single or combined) last year OR are a senior age 65+ or person with a disability?

Let us prepare your taxes for you at our Tempe VITA Tax Site. Read the frequently asked questions below and print the 2017 Free Tax Preparation flyer so you are prepared on what to bring, where to go and dates and times the site is open.

Walk-in Service
The tax site is open various days and weeks from February 4-April 15.  See schedule above.  This service is open for qualified taxpayers to just walk-in and wait for the next available tax preparer.  This service is first-come, first-served.  The first two weeks are extra busy for this service.  Only a limited number of tax returns are prepared daily.  Please plan accordingly or utilize one of the two time-saving options below (Appointments and Drop-Off Service).

Schedule an Appointment
For the second year, we are offering a time-saving service to allow tax clients the opportunity to schedule a tax appointment in advance. A limited number of time slots will be available each day the tax site is open.

VITA Drop-Off Tax Service
Don’t wait in line!  Drop-off your tax documents at the Tempe VITA Tax Site, complete a short interview with a tax preparer and return in a few days to review and sign your completed tax return. Another time-saving option that is easy, quick and accurate.

Did you earn less than $64,000 (single or combined) last year?

File your own taxes using the free online tax program MyFreeTaxes.com.  No need to buy a tax software program. This easy step-by-step program is a no-cost option to do-it-yourself, any time day or night.  Please note: If your combined income is over $64,000 you can still use this site to file your taxes; however, the option to pay a reduced service fee will be indicated before filing.
