Each tax season, Arizona families miss out on millions of dollars in tax refunds because they are unaware of programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a refundable federal income tax credit eligible to low-income working individuals and families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to change this by providing families with the knowledge and guidance to lessen their financial burden. TCC’s Tempe Financial Stability Initiative works in collaboration with Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, the Internal Revenue Service and Gracie’s Ministries to operate a VITA program in our area.
Did you earn less than $58,000 (single or combined) last year OR are a senior age 65+ or person with a disability?
Let us prepare your taxes for you at our Tempe VITA tax site.
Two options available this tax season, both require appointments and involve limited contact – no walk-ins accepted:
Drop-Off Taxes – Client brings tax documents to tax site, completes intake forms, taxes are prepared without client present, and then client returns to review and sign their return.
Remote Taxes* – Client completes intake forms and presents ID and Social Security Number at tax site. Client submits all other tax documents electronically. Volunteer prepares return and reviews with client via Zoom, then e-files the return. Client maintains and prints their return copy. (*Exception: If circumstances prohibit client from coming to the tax site email email@example.com.)
All appointments are scheduled online and open for registration on Tuesday, January 18, after 8:00 a.m.
